Star Wars fan’s dying wish: to see film pre-release
A terminally ill Star Wars fan has announced his greatest dying wish: to see the new Star Wars film before it’s released.
Daniel Fleetwood, who has been fighting cancer since 2012 and has tumours in 90 per cent of his lungs, doesn’t believe he will be around to watch the film with the rest of the world in mid-December.
A diehard fan, Mr Fleetwood writes fan fiction, dreams about the films and follows Star Wars forums online, but is worried he won’t live to see The Force Awakens.

• Daily Show host’s emergency surgery
• US Police shoot, kill six-year old
In September this year, Mr Fleetwood was given two months to live, and frequently has to catch his breath in between sentences.
“If I got to see the movie, I might actually die from happiness,” he told People Magazine in an interview.
“Growing up, I would watch the movies over and over and analyse every little detail. I hope I get to see what happens.”
Mr Fleetwood is pushing his campaign with the Twitter hashtag, #ForceForDaniel, and has already had his story shared by Star Wars actors Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and John Boyega (Finn).
The diehard fan credited his wife Ashley Fleetwood with helping him stay positive during his struggle with spindle cell carcinoma, a type of cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs.
“However strong I am in this situation, Ashley is even stronger because she chose to be in this situation,” he said.
“She stuck by my side when it really mattered and that’s amazing in itself.”
