Action star Vin Diesel has high hopes for his new movie Furious 7, claiming it could easily win an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Speaking to Variety about the big-budget movie, which he stars in and produced, Diesel said, “Universal is going to have the biggest movie in history with this movie”.

“It will probably win best picture at the Oscars, unless the Oscars don’t want to be relevant ever,” Diesel proclaimed.

“This will win best picture,” the 47-year-old reiterated. “There is nothing that will ever come close to the power of this thing.”

The Fast and Furious movies represent the highest grossing franchise in Universal Pictures’ history.

Furious 7, which is expected to dominate the box office after its April 2 release, also stars the late Paul Walker in his final film appearance before his November 2013 death.
