Succession star Sarah Snook’s sweet baby announcement

Australian actress Sarah Snook has penned a sweet tribute to her Succession co-stars and crew – making a big personal revelation in the process.

The star revealed in an Instagram post on Monday (US time) that she had given birth to her first child with husband Dave Lawson.

Snook revealed the happy news to her 290,000 followers with a snap of herself holding the newborn and watching Succession‘s highly anticipated season finale.

“It’s hard to express what this show has meant to me,” she wrote. “The places I got to go, the immense talent I got to work with … it breaks my heart that it is all over.”

Snook, who played Shiv Roy in the HBO hit series, said the critically lauded show was a “career highlight, which will no doubt be hard to top”.

“I am so, so proud and humbled by everyone’s hard work season after season: we all set the bar high for each other, then exceeded it and excelled, in every department,” she wrote.

The 35-year-old Australian star made her pregnancy public while walking the red carpet for Succession‘s final season premiere back in March.

Adelaide-born Snook married fellow Australian Dave Lawson in New York City in 2021. He is a Melbourne-born comedian with a string of TV and radio credits in Australia, including the ABC’s It’s a Date and Utopia.

Snook’s real-life pregnancy was written into the fourth and final series of Succession. Monday’s Instagram snap featured her home TV screen frozen on an image of on-screen husband Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen).

Snook wrote that she will miss the “friendships, the scripts, the locations, the one liners, the early mornings, the last-minute changes” and all the highs and lows of the four seasons of Succession.

“I just watched the final episode of the final season of something that has changed my life,” she said.

“Now, my life has changed again. Thank you for all the love and support.”

She didn’t reveal the baby’s gender, or when the child was born.

Her baby news was greeted with delight by fans and friends.

“You are a damn treasure. Such an incredible performance all 4 seasons!! Can’t WAIT to see what you do next!!” wrote Canadian actress Helene Yorke.

“The end of one great adventure to beginning of your greatest
Congrats on it all, Sarah,” wrote DJ Myles Hendrik.

Melanie Lynskey, the New Zealand-born star from Two and a Half Men, also weighed in.

“You occupy a space somewhere beyond ‘amazing’. I am in awe of your work … I will miss this show but can’t wait to see what you do next!!” she wrote.

There was a congratulations from Rachel Elizabeth Brosnahan, star of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and some from Succession co-star Gerri J Smith Cameron, who called Snook “queen of queens”.

While Snook’s run as Shiv Roy has finished, and she is likely to take some time out with her newborn, she can be seen on Australian screens in June.

Snook stars in the Australian-made psychological horror film, Run Rabbit Run, which was filmed on location in Victoria and South Australia. It has screenings at the Sydney Film Festival on June 10 and 15, and premieres on Netflix on June 28.
