ABC journalist Emma Alberici is lucky to still have her fingers after suffering a horrific kitchen accident.
The broadcaster’s chief economics correspondent revealed on Twitter on Monday that she had had surgery at the weekend after cutting her fingers in a blender.
“Advice: Don’t put fingers in stick blender blade to wash it while it’s still plugged in to the power,” Alberici wrote.
“Fingers survived thanks to the incredible work of surgeon & team at Prince of Wales Hospital.”

Friends and colleagues of the former Lateline host were quick to respond.
“Oh my goodness. And you’re still smiling,” SBS newsreader Anton Enus wrote. “Wishing you a total recovery.”
ABC TV’s News Breakfast co-host Virginia Trioli urged Alberici to take care and “don’t get that thing wet”.
