Best and worst celebrity fashion looks at Coachella – and the one accessory that dominated

Hitting up 2019’s Coachella festival in Indio, California, Australian social media influencer Nadia Bartel had one favourite wardrobe item: A white cowboy boot.
Once the exclusive domain of 1969 children’s TV hero HR Pufnstuf or go-go dancers who you know will be murdered in retro detective shows, the white boot had something of a moment at Coachella.
Bartel teamed her trusty Tony Biancos with everything from denim cut-offs and a midriff top to a PatBO see-through mesh skirt and fringe dress.
The mother of two’s look was jacked when she hung out with a lookalike crew, including TV presenter uber WAG Jessie Murphy and celebrity stylist Lana Wilkinson.
Murphy, styled by Wilkinson for Coachella, was a devotee of the white boot. For the Revolve party on April 14 she teamed her Alias Maes with a Chosen by One Day spangled dress and hardcore bronzer.

If Melbourne model Steph Claire Smith was worried about showing up to the Bondi Sands launch party during the festival in the increasingly-ubiquitous white boot, she didn’t show it. Rapt!
Model Shanina Shaik went further than her compatriots with an over-the-knee cowboy that toughened up her jewel slip dress and studded belt. A perfect melange of 1980s cool and Nashville stripper chic.
While the Aussie posse seemed to have a stranglehold on that boot and trusty glam boho at Coachella, US A-listers kept things a bit more on the down low. Maybe too down low.
The 21-year-old billionaire Kylie Jenner teamed her runners with a print leisure suit, rapper boyfriend and private jet. Isn’t the world a funny old place?

Hailey Bieber, formerly Baldwin, was everywhere in looks ranging from a disco ball mini to hideous platform sneakers and a baseball shirt.
For the curious, the double denim worn to the Levi’s Party in the Desert was probably in Hailey’s contract as face of the brand’s 501s. The red Vans probably weren’t. It’s cool: She is only 22. Plenty of time for a big girl shoe.

Kylie’s sister Kendall Jenner went more lady with her footwear. Heading to designer Virgil Abloh’s performance, she wore a sheer white long-sleeve top with generously cut white shorts and fabulous impractical silver metallic shoes.
For Coachella’s Revolve Festival, Jenner was a sexy Disney princess with weird gloves and fantastic chartreuse boots that might have had the white patrol feeling a teeny bit passe.

Gigi Hadid was bang on the vibe in looks including a bikini top with tie-dyed parachute pant and modern camo vest with rockstar jean, both worn with black biker boots.
Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell’s fringed House of Harlow 1960 dress (with understated wrestling belt) was part drive-through carwash, part craft project, entirely festival appropriate. That is, could not be worn anywhere else without attracting offers of help.

Emily Ratajkowski paid homage to Jackie Collins (but not as kickass authentic) in a cheetah print Ganni crop top and white jean. Her boot? Red.
