Australian model and actress Annalise Braakensiek has been found dead in her Sydney apartment, New South Wales media report.

Police and ambulance crews attended Braakensiek’s Potts Point apartment around 3.30pm Sunday after friends and family became concerned about her whereabouts.

Police on Monday confirmed a woman’s body was found at a Potts Point unit on Sunday afternoon after concerns were raised for her welfare.

The woman was yet to be formally identified and there are no apparent suspicious circumstances, a police spokeswoman said.

A post-mortem examination will be held to determine the cause of death.

Close friends of Braakensiek were quoted by News Corp as saying they became concerned after the model stopped responding to text messages and phone calls from Thursday.

Braakensiek, who would have turned 46 on Sunday, found fame both as a model and on television screens with a long-running role on SBS comedy Fat Pizza, as well as guest appearances on Home and Away and Heartbreak High.

In recent years she cultivated a strong online following as an animal rights activist, jewellery designer, and as a health and travel blogger.

Braakensiek and husband Danny Goldberg split in April 2018 after 16 years together.

She bought her Potts Point apartment in November and told the Sun-Herald after her purchase she planned to focus on her work and “moving forward with her life”.

In a December Instagram post, Braakensiek talked about her  “challenging year”.

She fought a public battle with depression for many years and was an ambassador for RUOK? Day in 2017.

Adriana Dib, a friend of Braakensiek, told News Corp the model seemed “upbeat” when they spoke last week.

“I spoke to Annalise on Wednesday night and I thought she sounded okay,” Ms Dib was quoted as saying.

“I wasn’t worried at all. We discussed the new year and all the wonderful things we would get to conquer and achieve,” she said.

“To find out today that she’s gone is so devastating, I feel out of body.”
