Kensington Palace has confirmed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a child.
The palace tweeted that the couple, who arrived in Sydney on Monday morning for a 16-day trip in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, were expecting their first child in the spring of 2019.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” the palace tweeted.

Speculation was rife on social media upon the couple’s arrival that the Duchess was pregnant after she covered her stomach with purple folders.
Rebecca Gibney, star of Seven drama Wanted, was blunt: “Preggers”, she wrote, with an emoji of an expectant mother.
Singer Tina Arena liked Gibney’s work: “Ah big time.”
