Pop sensation Justin Bieber reportedly marries longtime sweetheart Hailey Baldwin

Pop sensation Justin Bieber, 24, has reportedly married his longtime model girlfriend Hailey Baldwin, 21, in a courthouse ceremony in New York City.

People magazine reported the young couple, who have been building their relationship for several years and have more than 102 million Twitter followers between them, were seen on Friday (Thursday local time) at a courthouse where marriage licences are issued.

“They went ahead and did it without listening to anyone,” a source close to the couple told the magazine.

A second source said the pair, after reportedly getting legally married, were preparing to have a “big blowout” religious ceremony and celebration soon.

Baldwin later the same day posted on Twitter: “I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet!”

The post soon vanished from her feed, despite tabloid celebrity website TMZ reporting witnessing the pair enter the courthouse.

“They were taken to the executive offices for VIP treatment and Justin was seen crying and telling Hailey, ‘I can’t wait to marry you, baby’,” TMZ wrote on its website.

TMZ later clarified that the wedding may be as soon as next week, with one possible location being Canada, where the multi-millionaire singing sensation recently bought a $US5.3 million ($7.4 million) 40-hectare estate with its own lake and horse-riding track.

Baldwin told E! she first met Bieber when she was 13 at the amfAR New York Gala. They became close friends, often travelling together and photographed at A-List celebrity events including Leonardo DiCaprio’s St Bart’s New Year’s Eve party in 2016.

Baldwin, who described Bieber as “one of her best friends” in a May 2018 interview with the UK’s The Times, said they had rekindled their relationship after splitting in 2016.

“I met him when I was really young and he was one of my best friends. Everybody knows that at a certain point in time that turned into something else, but that just happens when you’re 18, 19 … It was what it was,” she told The Times.

Since June this year the pair has reportedly spent a lot more time together, fuelling speculation they were back on as a couple, often seen walking hand in hand in New York, at various church services and chilling out in the Hamptons, on New York’s Long Island.

In July, Bieber confirmed their engagement on Instagram.

A source told People at the time the couple wanted only a short engagement and a “small ceremony”.

“They are not planning a huge, celebrity wedding. They are getting married for love and don’t want a flashy wedding,” the source said.
