The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office is reviewing a case of alleged sexual abuse involving actor Kevin Spacey, according to reports.

US media reported on Thursday morning (AEDT) a case relating to the former House of Cards star had been presented by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on April 5.

No additional information was made available.

District attorney spokesman Greg Risling confirmed the reports in an email to the Los Angeles Times, saying that the case was being reviewed.

The news comes six months after Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct of actor Anthony Rapp when he was 14.

Rapp, now 46, shared his account of the alleged 1986 incident in an interview with Buzzfeed in October last year.

In the interview the Star Trek actor said Spacey, then 26, made a sexual advance on him during a party at Spacey’s New York apartment.

Spacey released a controversial statement after Rapp’s account, saying he did not remember the encounter  while simultaneously coming out.

“But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years,” he said at the time.

After Rapp’s accusation, member of the House of Cards production staff detailed accounts of sexual harassment and an instance of sexual assault.

Netflix cut ties with the House of Cards lead actor and he was replaced in Ridley Scott’s film, All the Money in the World, as a result of the allegations.

Christopher Plummer replaced Spacey in Ridley’s film, who went on to earn Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for the role.

Robin Wright will lead the upcoming sixth and final season of House of Cards.

In the UK, Spacey has been accused of sexual misconduct by up to 20 people, after an investigation commissioned by the Old Vic Theatre.

Scotland Yard is currently investigating complaints against the Oscar winner, who worked as the Old Vic Theatre’s artistic director from 2004-15.

He is also under investigation for allegedly assaulting a man in 2005 in the Central London borough of Westminster, and men in the South London borough of Lambeth, in 2005 and 2008.

Spacey’s reps declined to comment.
