Kit Harington and Rose Leslie have made Game of Thrones fans’ dreams come true, getting engaged five years after they won hearts as on-screen lovers in the hit HBO series.

People magazine is reporting Harington and Leslie, both 30, are set to tie the knot after falling in love on the Iceland set of Game of Thrones season two in 2012.

Fans became heavily invested in the relationship between Harington’s character, beloved Westerosi hero Jon Snow, and Leslie’s character, fiesty Wildling woman Ygritte, whose gripping romantic tension culminated in a steamy and very memorable scene in a cave.

Ygritte’s trademark catchphrase – “You know nuthin’ Jon Snow” – became a highly quoted internet meme and her eventual death, in the arms of Jon Snow at the end of season four, was one of the most powerful in the show’s history.

The duo made their first red carpet appearance in April 2016 at an awards show in London and Harington revealed earlier this year that he was living with Leslie and was “very, very happy”.

“I’ve moved in with my other best friend, Rose,” Harington told television host James Corden during an appearance on his late-night talk show.

“It’s going well. She has all sorts of ideas for the house,” he added, prompting fellow guest Nicole Kidman to grill Harington about his intentions.

“Are you going to get married?” she asked. “I just think it’s kind of nice — if you’re going to live together, maybe to at least get engaged.”

“I’ve been put on the spot by Nicole Kidman!” Harington laughed. “I mean, it’s step by step, step by step.”

Leslie has been mostly silent about their romance, only revealing to The Telegraph last year that keeping it secret while they were on set together was a challenge.

“We failed miserably. We wouldn’t flirt in front of other people [and] we thought that nobody knew, but they did. And it doesn’t matter; it’s fine,” she said.
