The leaked video of Nine newsreader Amber Sherlock berating colleague Julie Snook on-camera is providing laughs all around the globe, with US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel the latest to get on board.

Kimmell screened part of the now-viral clip in his opening monologue on Friday night’s show featuring guests LL Cool J and Octavia Spencer.

“I don’t know who decided to release this tape but whoever that was I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Kimmel said.

“It’s like a comedy there. Get those women on The View immediately,” Kimmell joked, referring to the popular US talk show hosted by women.

“I know it’s early but it could turn out to be clip of the year right there,” he said.

The leaked footage showed Sherlock and Snook preparing to deliver a live segment on US president-elect Donald Trump featuring guest commentator, psychologist Sandy Rea.

Sherlock, after noticing all three women were in white, tersely demanded Snook find a different colour jacket.

“I need Julie to put a jacket on because we’re all in white. I asked her before we came on — Julie, you need to put a jacket on … Come on, I told you two hours ago,” Ms Sherlock said.

To which Ms Snook responded: “Amber, if it’s an issue I can get on out of here [the studio],” she said.

Ms Sherlock then demanded: “It is an issue. Go and grab a jacket.”

The mother of two from Sydney has been harshly criticised for her handling of the exchange.

Her Instagram account has been inundated with criticisms, many of them containing foul language.

However, some have leapt to the defence of the news anchor, who hosts the daily national one-hour bulletin Nine News Now.

“Who of us can say we’ve never had a moment at work,” one Instagram user wrote on one of Sherlock’s recent posts.

“C’mon people, cut her some slack. If we were all judged by one conversation with a work colleague most of the human population would be hated. This too shall pass Amber.”

Sherlock has also been the target of paparazzi photographers, who have stationed themselves outside her Sydney home following the video furore.

On Saturday, celebrity gossip site the Daily Mail ran photos of a makeup-free Sherlock talking to her husband and a friend outside her house.

She is expected to return to screens on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Rea, who was applauded for grace under pressure after attempting to defuse the situation, took to Twitter on Saturday to joke about the exchange, writing: “What colour should I wear next week?”
