Actor Billie Lourd has commented for the first time following the death of both her mother, Star Wars actor Carrie Fisher, and maternal grandmother, entertainer Debbie Reynolds, in the same week.

The 24-year-old took to Instagram to break her silence nearly a week after Fisher and Reynolds passed away within 24 hours of each other — Fisher of a heart attack and Reynolds of a stroke.

Posting an old photo of herself as a child with both Fisher and Reynolds, Lourd thanked her 655,000 Instagram followers for their support.

Receiving all of your prayers and kind words over the past week has given me strength during a time I thought strength could not exist.”

“There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my one and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me.”

Lourd, Fisher’s daughter with ex-boyfriend Bryan Lourd, announced in a statement on December 27 her mother had died aged 60 after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles the previous week.

Reynolds, who despite having a tumultuous relationship with her daughter, was said to be “heartbroken” by Fisher’s passing and died a day later aged 84.

Fisher and Reynolds are survived by Lourd and Todd Fisher, 58, Reynolds’ son and Fisher’s brother.

A joint funeral for the famous pair is planned.
