Taylor Swift is known for her impromptu visits to her fans’ weddings, birthday parties and even christenings, but her latest surprise might be the sweetest yet.

The singer gave 96-year-old World War II veteran Cyrus Porter the shock of a lifetime when she showed up unannounced at his Missouri home the day after Christmas.

Mr Porter is Swift’s oldest fan, having attended two concerts and enjoyed the 27-year-old’s music with his more-than 20 grandchildren.

“[S]he puts on a show no one else puts on,” he told local publication Ozarks First this month.

“I just enjoyed going to see ’em and her. I would as soon go see her right now as anybody!”

Mr Porter said he hoped to see Swift perform a final time — a request that clearly didn’t go unnoticed by the pop sensation.

Swift showed up at Mr Porter’s home just after lunchtime on Monday (local time), surprising and delighting him and his extensive family, who took to social media to share the experience.

“When @taylorswift13 crashes your family Christmas…” one grandchild posted on Twitter.

Mr Porter was able to take Swift around his home, showing off some his World War II memorabilia.

The singer happily posed for selfies with Mr Porter and his family, who ranged in age from the 96-year-old to his infant great-grandchildren.

Swift, who was accompanied by her mother, Andrea, also performed her hit song Shake it Off for the adoring crowd.

It’s been a busy year of surprising for Swift — in June she crashed a fan’s wedding and performed her single, Blank Space, for the happy couple.
