Margot Robbie is a married woman after tying the knot with long-time boyfriend Tom Ackerley in the Byron Bay hinterland at the weekend.
Photos obtained by News Corp showed the Australian actress in a white gown at a small ceremony on a private property, with less than 50 guests in attendance.
Family and friends were reportedly kept in the dark about the specific wedding location until the last minute and asked to hand over their phones and cameras upon arrival.
On Tuesday, Robbie responded to the media furore with an Instagram post of herself and Ackerley kissing while sticking her ring finger – and glittering engagement ring – in front of the camera.
Robbie and Ackerley, both 26, first met on the set of World War II drama Suite Francaise in 2013. They began dating later that year.
This year Robbie told Vogue she initially thought the handsome British assistant director, who she described as “the best-looking guy in London”, was out of her league.
“We were friends for so long,” Robbie said. “I was always in love with him, but I thought, ‘Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him’.
“And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before’.”

Here’s what you need to know about the man who stole the heart of one of Australia’s best-loved stars.
He’s also in the film industry
Like Robbie, Ackerley has a love for the camera, but prefers to be behind it rather than in front of it.
As an assistant director, Ackerley has worked on films like 2016 comedy The Brothers Grimsby and the 2015 version of Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard.
He has her mum’s stamp of approval
Robbie is very close to her mother, physiotherapist Sarie Kessler, who raised Robbie, her sister and her two brothers as a single parent. Thankfully, Kessler is a big fan of Ackerley.
“He’s delightful,” Kessler told The Project‘s Carrie Bickmore. “We all thought he was pretty special.”
Mum is not the only one who has been won over – Robbie’s older brother Lachlan bonded with Ackerley by taking him to stunt training on their first meeting.
Robbie has also said her brothers and sisters “give [Ackerley] hell for being a Pommy”.
It is believed Kessler gave her daughter away at the wedding.
He likes kids and is close to his family
A browse through Ackerley’s Instagram account reveals plenty of photos of him and his baby nephew, while Robbie has been photographed with his niece and is close with his older brother, James.
The actress has also accompanied Ackerley to plenty of family weddings, posing in photos with his entire extended family.
He and Margot plan to settle in Australia
When the pair decide to settle down, it will be in Australia.
During an interview at her family home on The Project this year, Robbie reassured her mother she would raise their kids Down Under – a plan she said Ackerley is wholeheartedly on board with.
“He loves Australia, he’s like ‘I don’t know why anyone leaves Australia’,” she said.
He loves to travel off the beaten track
In their three years together, Ackerley and Robbie have enjoyed plenty of overseas journeys, including to the Philippines for charity work, to Hawaii for a beach getaway, to the Whitsundays with friends and to Cuba.
He has tattoos
Ackerley has been inked on several occasions, making him the perfect match for Robbie, who is well-known for her passion for permanent body art.
After receiving a tattoo gun from a friend as a wrap present for filming Suicide Squad, Robbie set about tattooing friends, colleagues and even strangers in her spare time.
Robbie also has ink – but only a couple of tiny tattoos on her ankle and on the bottom of her foot.
He and Margot are business partners
Ackerley and Robbie aren’t just partners in love – they’re partners in business too.
In 2015, the lovebirds founded film production company Lucky Chap Entertainment along with good friends Josey McNamara – a fellow assistant director – and Sophia Kerr.
The company has already acquired several scripts, including for a biopic about American figure skater Tonya Harding, with Robbie set to play the lead role.
They also recently finished filming dystopian thriller Terminal in Hungary, in which Robbie also stars.
They’ve lived together for a while now
Despite Robbie’s growing salary, she and Ackerley have been living in a share house with seven people in Clapham, London, for the last couple of years.
“I’m not super domestic, but everyone chips in and does the dishes; the boys do the bins because that’s a boy job. It’s definitely not glamorous,” she told news.com.au.
They’ve since downsized to live with only four other people.
