He might only be 11 years old, but Cruz Beckham has already made a move to follow in the footsteps of his famous parents.

The youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham joined London’s Capital FM to sing a verse from the track, If Every Day Was Christmas, which he is releasing to raise money for charity.

“It’s amazing. It’s two of my favourite things – singing and Christmas – and it’s amazing to put those together and the money is going to charity,” the 11 year old told the radio station.

Cruz’s father, David, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid football star, said: “I’m really proud. He’s having fun, he’s enjoying it.”

But the youngster’s singing has stirred up some controversy, with Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan criticising his parents for allowing a schoolboy to release a single

Morgan, getting out a “sick bucket”, said: “I say why don’t you go to school, mate, because you’re not famous, your parents are famous … stop putting these kids into the public domain while simultaneously saying privacy.”

His barb drew a sharp response from Scooter Braun, who manages star singer Justin Bieber and is said to have signed up the young Beckham.

Braun Tweeted: “He is an 11-year-old who wanted to make a song to help other kids. Once again Piers shows why he is a jackass and why his (US) show was cancelled.

“Some people in this world make a living out of finding the worst in every situation. It means they have a career … not class. Just a career.”

In launching the single, Cruz was happy to play along with a game potting his famous parents in a video interview with Capital FM.

Asked who was more likely to fall asleep on the sofa while watching TV, David or former Spice Girls pop star Victoria, he replied: “Definitely my mum.”

Quizzed about who is more likely to say a naughty word, he added: “100 per cent my mum.”

He said his singer-turned-fashion designer mother was also more likely to tell a bad joke.

Asked who took the longest to get ready for a function, he replied: “100 per cent my mum. My dad takes about 10 minutes, my mum takes about 10 hours.”

But when questioned about who is “more likely to embarrass you”, he added: “Definitely my dad.”
