Kate Upton’s X-rated rant about fiancé’s snub

While everyone else in America is still reacting to the presidential election, Kate Upton has taken issue with a voting process of a different kind.
The model took to Twitter on Thursday after her baseball player fiancé Justin Verlander was overlooked for a coveted Cy Young Award, recognising the best pitcher in Major League Baseball. And, boy, did she throw some heat.
“Hey@MLB I thought I was the only person allowed to f*** @JustinVerlander?!” she tweeted, defending her 33-year-old husband-to-be.
“What 2 writers didn’t have him on their ballot?
Upton’s main gripe? Verlander, a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers and a frontrunner to claim the prize, lost out to Rick Porcello due to a logistical fluke not dissimilar to the process that elected Donald Trump as US President.
Each year, the recipient of the award is decided by members of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
Verlander received the most first-place votes, but two voters left him off their ballots entirely, making Boston Red Sox pitcher Porcello the winner – by a mere five points.
Upton, 24, was furious.

The writers in question were Bill Chastain of MLB.com and Fred Goodall of the Associated Press.
Upton accused Chastain and Goodall of being “out of touch” and called for the MLB to fire them.

New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard tried to empathise with Upton by tweeting her to say he’d only gotten four votes overall.
“Nobody likes me,” Syndergaard wrote.

Verlander’s younger brother Ben also weighed in, calling on Chastain to explain his decision.

Chastain told New York Daily News the decision to exclude Verlander from his ballot entirely was a difficult one.
“I feel bad that people are upset about this; I did the best I could,” he said. “I went around the clubhouse, I asked guys. I agonised over this.”
Meanwhile, Verlander himself remained diplomatically silent, save for a tweet to thank those who voted for him.

Verlander and Upton announced their engagement in May this year after three years together.
The pair met in 2012, on the set of a commercial for a baseball-themed video game.
The model, who has also starred in several major films, has previously described Verlander as her “best friend”.
