Former child star Lindsay Lohan has announced she wants to provide free energy drinks to Syrian refugees.

The puzzling news comes after Lohan launched an eponymous nightclub in downtown Athens, Greece, in partnership with her rumoured hospitality boyfriend Dennis Papageorgiou.

German energy drink Mintanine is already sold at Lohan’s nightclub, but according to the New York Post’s Page Six, Lohan, who recently toured refugee camps in the region, wants to supply displaced persons with the caffeine-packed beverage.

The drink is described on the Mintanine website as “blue caffeine lemonade”.

A source told the website that the offering was all part of Lohan’s “mission” to help refugees.

The actress recently spent a number of weeks touring refugee camps in Europe, and is said to have been distressed at the lack of food and water available.

Lohan was reportedly a hit in the region, respectfully wearing a headscarf provided to her by an aid worker and telling media she had studied the Qu’ran.

“They crucified me for it [in America],” she said.
