Sydney Swans star Kieren Jack is engaged to girlfriend Charlotte Goodlet, following a public family feud that saw his parents uninvited to AFL games.
Model and Channel Nine news producer, Goodlet, announced the news on her Instagram page, showing off a large diamond ring.
“I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with you and our sad looking dog. I love you so, so much,” Goodlet wrote.
The young couple has been at the centre of a bitter family spat, reportedly relating to Jack’s parents not approving of the beautiful blonde.
Father Gary Jack, who played rugby league for Australia, and mother Donna Jack went public earlier this year with their views on the rift, which culminated in the family being uninvited from Jack’s 200th game.
“Isn’t it time as captain you practised what you preach. Family is what gets you there, don’t [sic] ever forget that,” wrote Donna Jack on Twitter.
Gary tweeted support of his wife’s comments, saying “we are a family”.
In a surprise move, the Swans player called a press conference to address the issue, telling media his girlfriend was more than just a pretty face.
“It’s been tough. She [Charlotte] hasn’t deserved the treatment that she’s received, but she’s strong, she’s an independent woman, she’s not just a model,” he said.
“I can tell you that and a lot of people here know that so I love her very much and I’m very proud of her.”
