Jennifer Aniston’s best friend Chelsea Handler has spoken out about Brad Pitt’s divorce from his wife of two years, Angelina Jolie.

Pitt famously divorced Aniston and started dating Jolie mere months later, prompting speculation Pitt had left Aniston to be with Jolie.

Following Wednesday’s announcement Pitt and Jolie were divorcing after 12 years together, Handler slammed Pitt for marrying “a f***ing lunatic”.

“There are rumours that part of the problem was that Brad was allegedly drinking and smoking too much weed,” Handler said on her Netflix talk show Chelsea.

TMZ reported Jolie filed for divorce because she became “fed up” with Pitt’s drug and alcohol use and was concerned about his interactions with their six children.

“I wonder why he would need to self-medicate,” she joked.

“Maybe because he could have been spending the last 12 years at Lake Como hanging out with George Clooney and Matt Damon, instead of being stuck in a house with 85 kids speaking 15 different languages.

“Oh yeah, because he married a f***ing lunatic, that’s why.”

Aniston, who is now married to actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux, is yet to comment on the split.

However, her rep was forced to deny a report in InTouch Weekly that Aniston would soon be joining her ex-husband on the singles market by splitting with Theroux after one year of marriage.

Aniston’s rep told Daily Mail Online the report was a “complete fabrication”.
