Forget posters and albums – fancy owning the ultimate piece of David Bowie memorabilia?
An US auction house is expecting a lock of David Bowie’s hair to fetch more than $3800 in Beverly Hills this weekend.
Heritage Auctions says the blonde lock, tied with blue thread, comes from a former employee at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London.
The former Wig Mistress claims to have snipped some of Bowie’s hair in 1983s to create a wig for a wax figure of the singer, and kept it as a souvenir.
The auction listing includes an image of Bowie with the woman, who was apparently a huge fan, and a signed letter of authenticity from her.
Bowie died in January at 69 after an 18-month battle with liver cancer.
The auction listing says part of the proceeds will go the Soi Dog Foundation, which aims to improve the welfare of dogs and cats in Thailand.
