A 17-year-old girl has been forced to deny being part of an elaborate publicity stunt, after her breast was exposed onstage by Madonna during the singer’s Brisbane concert.

The pop star has made a career out of treating gender and sexuality norms with contempt, but the latest incident has nevertheless attracted outrage from around the world.

Aspiring Gold Coast model Josephine Georgiou was onstage at Madonna’s Rebel Heart show on Friday night when the 57-year-old songstress yanked at the teenager’s corset, exposing her breast in front of thousands.

She also appeared to simulate a sex act with the girl on stage.

Many fans were outraged by the stunt. British columnist Piers Morgan attacked Madonna for her behaviour and labelled her a “dirty old woman”.

But among the outrage was speculation Ms Georgiou was part of a publicity stunt.

“It’s a smart publicity stunt I think,” Australian country music icon Troy Cassar-Daley said on social media. “Everyone’s talking about it, I would have left though.”

Another commenter said: “Reeks of has been Madonna publicity stunt copying Janet Jackson”.

Ms Georgiou, a client of flamboyant celebrity publicist Max Markson, described it as “the best night” during an interview in News Corp where she said she would not press charges against Madonna for exposing her breast.

“When I was onstage I didn’t think about it at all,” she told The New Daily.

“I was so not in the loop until I left work … the next day and had heaps of interviews.”

A video posted to the teenager’s Instagram appeared to show her dancing in time with back-up dancers, but she denied any prior knowledge of the incident and said she just knew the song very well.

Ms Georgiou, who described herself as a “mermaid, metal head, aspiring astrophysicist” on her Instagram account, said she bought $99 tickets “at the last minute”, but was later handed $500 tickets by a stranger.

“I think Madonna picked me because she thought I could play the part with her onstage,” she said.

“I just love Madonna, I love all of it, I love her newest album and I know it all.”

Partway through the show, Ms Georgiou said she was approached by one of the team working on the show who asked if she danced and knew the song Unapologetic B***h.

Madonna’s outrageous antics continued on Saturday night in Sydney, when she called British Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie to the stage.

“I worship you, you’re my favourite,” Madonna told Ms Christie.

Ms Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth on the show, responded: “I’ve loved you my whole life.” Madonna then declared: “I want to f**k you.”

Judge considers son’s future

As Madonna took the Rebel Heart tour around Australia, a High Court Judge in London considered the future of her 15-year-old son, Rocco.

Rocco has lived with his father, filmmaker Guy Ritchie, in England since December, but his mother wants him to return to the United States.
