Celine Dion has paid tribute to her late husband as she returned to her Las Vegas residency this week.

Dion’s husband Rene Angelil died of cancer aged 73 just two days before Dion tragically also lost her brother to the disease.

Taking the stage at the The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, the Canadian singer cried as she sang her hits ‘All By Myself’ and ‘With One More Look At You’.

The stage show, which Dion has been doing for years, began with a montage of Dion family pictures.

“Through my life, I only had eyes for my husband, who sat out here night after night,” said Dion as the slideshow played.

“People thought that I was looking at him actually, but I didn’t need to because every time I closed my eyes I felt Rene on stage with me.”

A funeral was held for Angelil in Montreal, Canada, with thousands paying their respects at the open casket.

Angelil and Dion’s 15-year old son Rene Charles gave a touching eulogy in both English and French.

“You had a busy life, but we were communicating through golf, hockey … and smoked meat,” he joked.

“You left me now with enough good memories for me to share with my little brothers.

“You are a tough act to follow, but with your help, everything is going to be fine.”
