Vin Diesel has remembered close friend and Fast and Furious costar Paul Walker by naming his newborn daughter after the late actor.

Speaking on the Today show on Monday, the 47-year-old actor cried as he revealed he had named his baby Pauline.

Walker was killed at the age of 40 in a November 2013 car crash which also killed his friend and the car’s driver, Roger Rodas.

An emotional Diesel said he felt his late friend’s presence in the delivery room when he and girlfriend Paloma Jimenez welcomed their daughter earlier this month.

“There’s no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord,” Diesel told host Natalie Morales.

“I just thought… I knew he was there and it felt like, you know, a way to keep his memory a part of my family and a part of my world.”

Diesel is out promoting his new blockbuster Furious 7, which was incidentally Walker’s last role before his death.

Pauline is Diesel’s third child with Jimenez.
