Neighbours star slams Bindi Irwin

A former Neighbours star has slammed wildlife advocate Bindi Irwin over her comments that teenage girls should dress more appropriately.

Actress Caitlin Stasey took to Twitter to blast 15-year-old Irwin who told News Corp this week that girls her age should dress ‘classier’.

“I’m a big advocate for young girls dressing their age,” said Irwin in an interview with News.com.au.

“I mean, for me, I look around at a lot of young girls that are my age and they’re always trying to dress older. Whether it’s wearing revealing clothes or hardly wearing any clothes at all, I feel really bad for them.”

The 24-year-old Tomorrow When The War Began actress took to Twitter to share an ‘open letter to Bindi’.

Actress Caitlin Stasey says that Bindi Irwin will regret her comments. AAP.

“In ten years you’ll wish you stood beside your shared sex rather than be proud you belittled their choices & agency,” Stasey tweeted.

The actress also slammed Irwin for her association with SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, which has been boycotted over its treatment of killer whales in its care.

Stasey has courted controversy herself for posting sexually explicit photos online and frequently using her Twitter to launch tirades against Hollywood and the sexualisation of women. Many Twitter users have taken to the site to defend Irwin, calling her a role model for young girls.
