The touching award inspired by L’Wren Scott’s death

Los Angeles-based charity Art of Elysium has paid tribute to fashion designer and girlfriend of Mick Jagger, L’Wren Scott, with a new award in her honour.

The L’Wren Scott Amber Award will celebrate budding fashion designers who also contribute their time to charity.

Art of Elysium is a non-for-profit organisation which uses music, art, design and theatre to help sick children in hospital, celebrating an intersection between culture and philanthropy.

Scott’s family has supported the initiative, encouraging mourners and well-wishers to donate money to the charity rather than buy flowers, according to Elle Magazine.

The charity has many celebrity patrons, counting Ashley Olsen, David Arquette, Scarlett Johansson and Johnny Depp among its fans.

49 year-old Scott committed suicide on March 17 while her long-time boyfriend Mick Jagger was in Australia touring with The Rolling Stones. She left her entire estate to Jagger, who postponed the tour to fly back to the States for her funeral.
