It seems Harry Potter’s nemesis Voldemort has more than one reason to want to wreak havoc on the world of wizardry.

Particularly as it’s been revealed his name has been mispronounced in the Harry Potter movies and by countless readers of the books.

J.K. Rowling, the author hugely successful children’s books, tweeted out the fact that the truly awful wizard, played in the movies by a noseless Ralph Fiennes, has had his name mispronounced.

Many pronounce the ‘t’ at the end of dark wizard’s name when, actually, the ‘t’ should be silent as in ‘Vol-de-more’.

“..but I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who pronounces it that way,” Rowling tweeted in answer to a fan’s question about he who cannot be named’s name.

The silent T is related to the French word ‘mort’ meaning ‘flying death’.
