New director for NMA

A new director has been named to lead the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.

Dr Mathew Trinca has been appointed to the prestigious role for five years.

He has been acting director at the Acton site since July 2013, when Andrew Sayers left the museum.

Dr Trinca previously served as Assistant Director of Collections, Content and Exhibitions and was Senior Curator of Collections and Gallery Development.

He has overseen the recent exhibition called Old Masters: Australia’s Great Bark Artists and is currently working with the British Museum on the upcoming Encounters exhibition which will open in 2015.
