A star-studded private memorial service has been held at Carrie Fisher’s home following the deaths of the Star Wars actress and her mother Debbie Reynolds.
Meryl Streep, Gywneth Paltrow and Star Wars creator George Lucas were among the mourners at Fisher’s estate in Coldwater Canyon, Los Angeles, where she and Reynolds were next-door neighbours.
British actors Stephen Fry and Eric Idle, singer Courtney Love and actresses Jamie Lee Curtis, Candace Bergen and Meg Ryan were also spotted at the compound.
Streep, who starred in the film adaptation of Fisher’s semi-autobiographical novel Postcards From The Edge, was pictured carrying a bunch of white roses as she entered the estate.
A family friend told People magazine that the Oscar-winning actress performed Fisher’s favourite song Happy Days Are Here Again during the service.
Eulogies were delivered by Streep, Fry, Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd and British comedienne Tracey Ullman, People reported.
Members of the media gathered outside the fenced-off compound, where a fan had placed a bunch of white roses at the entrance.
Security officers stood outside the wooden entrance doors, which were emblazoned with quirky slogans such as Beware Of Trains, No Swimsuits In Lobby and Public Telephone Within.

Reynolds’ son Todd Fisher has said his mother and sister Carrie would be buried together at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills.
Todd Fisher told ABC News the burial site was chosen when hummingbirds appeared at a particular spot.
The main building of Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, which will be mother and daughter’s final resting place.
“My mother loves hummingbirds, and had hummingbirds in her yard,” he said. “We were going all over the place, and we got to this one place to look at this one thing, these hummingbirds came, and it was just like ‘fait accompli,’ as my mother would say.”
Celebrity news website TMZ said Fisher’s body had already been cremated and some of the ashes would be buried with her mother.

Fisher’s daughter, Scream Queens actress Lourd, 24, commented for the first time earlier this week on the deaths of her mother and grandmother.
Alongside a photograph of her, Fisher and Reynolds, she wrote on Instagram: “Receiving all of your prayers and kind words over the past week has given me strength during a time I thought strength could not exist. There are no words to express how much I will miss my Abadaba and my one and only Momby. Your love and support means the world to me.”
Meanwhile the trailer for Bright Lights, the documentary exploring the bond between Fisher and Reynolds, has been released.
