Australia will face off against football powerhouse Brazil in June with a clash at the MCG.

The Socceroos will meet the five-time world champions on June 13 in a friendly, with the South American giants in Melbourne for a blockbuster clash with Argentina four days earlier.

Australia last met the world No.2 side in 2013 when Brazil won 6-0 in Brasilia.

The MCG clash will be the Socceroos’ last game before heading off for the Confederations Cup in Russia.

Barcelona star Neymar, Chelsea’s Luiz, Liverpool stars Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, Juventus’ Dani Alves are expected to feature in a star-studded Brazil lineup, according to News Corp.

Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport, John Eren told News Corp it was the clash “every Australian football fan wanted”.

“This game will pit our boys against the world’s best, and give our fans the chance to cheer on their beloved Socceroos as they prepare for their quest for Confederation Cup glory,” he said.

It will cap off a huge month for the sport in Australia with football legend Lionel Messi set to lead Argentina as they take on Brazil on June 9 at the MCG.

The Socceroos have a big 2017 on the cards with Australia drawn to play Germany, Chile and Cameroon at the Confederations Cup.

Ange Postecoglou’s men will also have the World Cup on their minds, as they continue qualifying matches in a bid to cement a spot for Russia 2018.
