Manchester United’s in-house TV channel has been left bemused and star-struck after receiving a phone call from none other than Usain Bolt during a post-match panel show.

Triple-triple Olympic champion Bolt is a well-known fan of the Red Devils and has told the media on a number of occasions he wants to one day play for the Premier League side.

But following United’s 2-1 New Year’s Eve win over Middlesbrough, MUTV presenter Mandy Henry took a fan call from ‘Usain from Jamaica’.

“It’s not Usain Bolt, is it?” Henry asked.

“It is Usain Bolt,” came the response.

Henry would be forgiven for assuming the name was a false one, but ‘Usain from Jamaica’ soldiered on, praising the team’s newfound form.

“They came through like the old Manchester United,” he said.

“They came through and pushed on and persevered, the Manchester United way. It was a great match, I am very happy about this.”

Bolt then tweeted to confirm it was indeed him on the line, before retweeting Manchester United’s video of the chat.

Henry apologised, telling Bolt to call again soon.

Bolt claimed the triple-triple Olympic title in Rio last year, winning a third consecutive gold medal in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay events.

Manchester United is currently sixth on the Premier League ladder, three points behind cross-town rivals Manchester City in third and 13 points behind leader Chelsea.
