Stan Wawrinka’s heart-warming hit with a ballboy

Defending champion Stan Wawrinka has won through to the French Open quarter-finals in a delay-riddled fourth-round match against Viktor Toicki, winning 7-6 (7/5), 6-7 (7/9), 6-3, 6-2.

Between the rain and an injury timeout by Toicki, Wawrinka found an alternative way to stay warm.

He called upon a ball boy, and handed him a racket.

“I was a little bit bored,” Wawrinka said, who was leading the third set 4-1 when Troicki called for the doctor.

“I was waiting for him (Troicki). I was talking to the ball kid, I asked him if he played tennis and I said ‘OK, let’s play’.”

He went on to dominate the rest of the match, as the number three seed claimed his 11th-straight win in Paris.

Wawrinka will play Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the quarter-final.
