NRL player charged with assault, stalking

NRL player Matthew Lodge has been charged with six counts of assault as well as stalking and intimidation.

The 20-year-old man, who plays for the Wests Tigers, has been stood down from the club after being arrested in Marryong on Thursday.

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station and issued with a provisional violence order for malicious damage, assault, stalk and intimidate, with the offences allegedly committed between August 8 and August 20.

Wests Tigers Club has been advised of the incident.

“The club is currently working with the NRL Integrity Unit to acquire details of the incident,” it said in a statement.

“Lodge has been stood down until the club and NRL Integrity Unit receive all the facts.”

Lodge has been released under strict bail and is due to appear in court on August 26.
