The NRL has been been berated once again for its poor choice of pre-match entertainment at Wednesday night’s State of Origin I.

Former Australian Idol contestant Shannon Noll was chosen to head the line-up before the big clash against the NSW Blues and Queensland Maroons.

But a state vs state sing-off against Wonderland’s Ben Mingay (the pair belted out We Can’t be Beaten) didn’t end well.

Furious fans took to Twitter to complain about the lacklustre performance — and underwhelming selection of artists.

If fans were’t angry enough, moments later, Australian rock-Gods Cold Chisel came out onto ANZ Stadium to announce they would be performing at the NRL Grand Final.

“Cold Chisel are one of Australia’s iconic bands and it will be fantastic to see them perform at the NRL Grand Final,” NRL Head of Marketing Lewis Pullen told News Corp.

“Australia has waited a long time for this to happen.

“We don’t want to give too much away but this special show will be worth the wait.”

But was the performance really so bad? Watch the clip below and decide for yourself, if you dare.
