Storm pip Roosters in thriller

Cooper Cronk has booted a last-minute field goal to hand the Melbourne Storm a thrilling 17-16 win over the Sydney Roosters at AAMI Park.

Marika Koroibete opened the scoring when he flew high to hold on to a Cronk kick to touch down in the 15th minute.

Mitchell Aubusson scored a converted try and James Maloney added two more penalties before a try to bench forward Felise Kaufusi in the 39th minute saw the Storm level the scores at 10-10 heading to half-time.

The second half was even more scrappy and it was not until Will Chambers scored after some brilliant play from Cameron Smith that the Storm got their noses in front.

Smith added the extras to push the lead to six points, but the Roosters regathered the short kick-off and Daniel Tupou crossed in the left corner.

That gave James Maloney a tough sideline conversion to square the scores, and he obliged only to be edged minutes later by Cronk’s field goal.

More to come.
