Blues boss backs Malthouse for season

Carlton president Mark LoGiudice has reportedly guaranteed coach Mick Malthouse is safe for the rest of this AFL season, regardless of the Blues’ form.

The Blues have started with two losses, adding to speculation about Malthouse’s future in his third season at the club.

Who could your team least afford to lose?

In round five, Malthouse will break Jock McHale’s AFL coaching record of 714 games when the Blues play Collingwood in an MCG blockbuster.

“Let me end the speculation once and for all. Mick Malthouse will coach the remainder of this season. Full Stop,” the Herald Sun quoted LoGiudice as saying.

“I will say it again. Mick Malthouse will coach the remainder of this season.”

“Nothing is going to change – that’s the position of the Carlton Football Club.”

Malthouse is out of contract at the end of the season and has said his future could prove a distraction to the players.

But the Blues have dismissed it as a potential issue.
