Chelsea beat West Ham to stay clear of the pack

Premier League leader Chelsea has maintained its five-point buffer over Manchester City with a 1-0 win over West Ham United at Upton Park.

An Eden Hazard header midway through the first half was enough to secure all three points for the Blues as their closest challenger beat Leicester City 2-0 thanks to David Silva’s goal on the stroke of half-time and James Milner’s late finish.

Arsenal remained in third place with a 2-1 away win over Queens Park Rangers, while Manchester United kept its top four hopes alive with a late 1-0 win over Newcastle United after a defensive mix-up allowed Ashley Young to score in the 89th minute.

Tottenham Hotspur beat Swansea City 3-2, while Everton continued to struggle on the road with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Stoke.

Liverpool defeated Burnley 2-0 thanks to goals from Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge, a result that leapfrogged them above Southampton and into fifth place.
