In our Australian Open column, The Daily Deuce, we reflect on the drama you might have missed on and off the court, as well as the sartorial triumphs and missteps of the sporting elite.

• Daily Deuce: day two
• Daily Deuce: day three
• Daily Deuce: day four

Here’s what went down on day five:

Grigor-geous

Comedian Josh Thomas took over the official Australian Open Twitter account to answer fan questions (despite his complete lack of tennis knowledge) and declared the definitive winner of the “hottest tennis player 2015” competition.

According to Thomas, that title goes to Grigor Dimitrov, the statuesque Bulgarian seeded 10th in the tournament.

Unfortunately for Thomas, he will have to fight for Dimitrov’s affections with Maria Sharapova, who has been dating the 23-year-old since 2012.

Best dressed

We’re calling it: Marion Bartoli is set to be the chicest player at the Open. The Frenchwoman shared a sneaky preview snap of her outfit on Twitter, a streamlined black and white dress from Monreal London, a high end sportswear label. Forget the fluoro, this is real style.

Fed-Express: now stopping all stations

In a monumental upset, Roger Federer was bounced out of the Open in four sets by Andreas Seppi. It was the first time the Swiss maestro hadn’t made the semis since 2003.

This pic from Melbourne radio station 3AW put just how much of a fixture Roger has been on the tennis landscape into some perspective.

The Skeletor

He may have expensive endorsement deals, a model girlfriend and European good looks but, in the right light and with the right intensity, Tomas Berdych looks just like He-Man’s mortal enemy, Skeletor.

Harsh but accurate, right?

Some people just have to be good at everything.

Not content at just being world class tennis players, Grigor Dimitrov and Lucie Hradecka decided they had to show off their gymnastic skills too.

We get it, guys. You’re talented.
