Stoner gets back on the bike

Two-time MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner signs a new deal with Honda as a test rider for 2015.

Two-time MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner signs a new deal with Honda as a test rider for 2015.

Casey Stoner has signed a new deal with Honda but insists he will only remain a test rider.

Stoner will test for two days at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia between the 29th and 31st January, and a second test will take place towards the end of the year, but no date is confirmed at present.

Honda Racing Corporation Vice President, Shuhei Nakamoto says the company is looking forward to working with Stoner and described his feedback as invaluable.

He says the company is pleased to have a test rider capable of pushing the RC213V to its limits.

Stoner’s move into V8 Supercars came to an end in 2013 and he took a break from all motorsport in 2014.

He says he is happy to be back on a bike after such a long break from competitive racing.

“After a relaxing Christmas and New Year I’m happy to announce that I’ve been speaking to Nakamoto san and we have come to an agreement in continuing our relationship,” Stoner said.

“I am currently preparing to ride in Sepang in a few weeks, which will be very different weather and humidity to Motegi, so I need to get myself fit!”
