Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has signed a contract extension to stay with the NRL club until the end of the 2017 season.

Robinson coached the Roosters to a premiership in his maiden season in 2013 and has also helped to bring plenty of other success to the foundation club with successive minor premierships and also a World Club Champions trophy early this year.

“The Sydney Roosters are a special club and I’m really pleased to extend my time here,” said Robinson, who guided his team to the preliminary final this year.

Long-serving Roosters chairman Nick Politis made it clear he never intended letting his man go.

“Trent is one of the best young coaches in our game and it’s wonderful to have him locked in for at least the next three years,” said Politis.

“Not only is Trent an incredibly astute coach, he importantly understands and respects the history of our proud club and has cultivated a strong culture among the playing group and everyone associated with the Sydney Roosters.”
