Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has made a play to reach millennial voters, deadpanning her way through a mock celebrity interview.

Ms Clinton appeared on Funny or Die’s spoof talk show, Between Two Ferns, with comedian Zach Galifianakis.

Subjecting herself to nonstop lampooning and intentionally awkward exchanges, Ms Clinton went toe-to-toe with the expressionless host Galifianakis.

Her performance was much different to that of current US President Barack Obama, who hilariously featured on the program previously.

While addressing serious issues such as her position on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, potentially becoming the first female president and being Secretary of State, Ms Clinton stuck to the shows’ humorous agenda.

“First you supported Obama’s Trans-Pacific Partnership deal and then you were against it, I think people deserve to know – are you down with TPP?” Galifianakis asked.

“I’m not down with TPP,” Ms Clinton responded.

Galifinakis replied: “No you’re supposed to say ‘yeah you know me,’ like the hip-hop groove.”

Ms Clinton: “Don’t tell me what to say.”

Galifinakis: “Fine lose… country goes to ****.”

Galifianakis riffed on Ms Clinton becoming the “first girl president,” on multiple occasions.

He also joked she would be, “for younger, younger generation you would also become their first white president, and that’s pretty neat too.”

The Hangover actor even asked the candidate about her former role as Secretary of State.

“As Secretary, how many words per minute could you type, and how does president Obama like his coffee? Like himself? Weak?”

But Ms Clinton appeared unfazed by Galifianakis’ jabs, despite saying “I really regret doing this,” later on.

The pair closed on Republican nominee Donald Trump, after the host asked what the business tycoon will wear to the presidential debate.

“I assume he’ll wear that red power tie,” Ms Clinton said.

Galifinakis replied: “Or maybe that White Power tie.”

Ms Clinton: “That’s even more appropriate.”
