A motorist is facing charges after crashing his car through a school fence and into a portable building while apparently trying to find a Pokemon in Melbourne’s outer south-east.

Victoria Police said it appeared the man was using the Pokemon Go phone app when he lost control of his car at a roundabout on Ridgemont Drive in Berwick.

The 19-year old driver was not injured in the crash which happened just before 7:00pm on Thursday.

He is expected to be charged on summons with careless driving.

Pokemon Go has become a phenomenal global success, with more than 30 million players using phone GPS and cameras to travel around catching cartoon characters.

VicRoads this week posted roadside warnings advising drivers they could face demerit points and fines caught playing the game while driving.
