Movie World said the fault occurred when a passenger took off an item of clothing, which then became jammed in the mechanism.

A number of passengers were left trapped on a log ride at a Gold Coast theme park for up to 20 minutes on Monday.

People on Movie World’s popular Wild West Falls Adventure Ride were left stranded at 3pm, just days after patrons were rescued from one of the theme park’s roller-coasters.

A Village Roadshow Theme Parks spokesman said in a statement the incident was a “generic ride stoppage”.

“Ride stoppages and evacuations are a part of regular operating procedures and are an essential part of ride safety systems,” he said.

“Occasionally ride stoppages occur due to environmental and weather factors such as rain, wind and heat, power surges, sensor adjustments and guest behaviour.”

No emergency services were called to the theme park.

The incident comes less than a week after the Arkham Asylum rollercoaster malfunctioned, trapping 20 people on board for just over an hour-and-a-half.

The Wild West Falls ride is currently undergoing safety checks.
