Police, who crashed while trying to apprehend a bandit dressed as Spider-Man, have made a public plea to help hunt down the suspect.

The police car had lights and sirens on when it went through an intersection at Stafford Heights in Brisbane’s north and collided with a 4WD just before 7am Friday.

The crash wrecked both vehicles and damaged two other vehicles in the vicinity, however, fortunately no one was hurt in the incident.

The robbery saw a gun-toting bandit dressed as the famous superhero threaten a 64-year-old staff member of a Rode Road newsagents.

The staff member refused to comply and the bandit fled empty-handed in a silver Volkswagen Golf sedan.

Investigations into the crash and the robbery are continuing.

Police have asked anyone who has seen the vehicle or Spider-Man to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
