Brisbane Channel Nine reporter Alex Bernardt has had her fair share of on-air struggles that include being doused in icy water and stubbed with cigarettes.

And she again hit the headlines, when footage of her being stung by a bull ant went viral this week.

The incident took place “several months ago,” according to a story published on Channel Nine’s website, in a piece to camera that never hit the air.

But Bernardt’s reaction to the bite has seen the light of day.

She was in clear pain and attempted to laugh off the incident but struggled to keep her language clean.

“I’ve just got bitten by a f**king bull ant…f**k…oh my god, ow, I’m about to cry. It’s really, really sore,” Bernardt said.

It is not the first time the reporter has found herself at the centre of the story.

In June, Bernardt suffered a minor burn after a woman shoved a cigarette butt into the reporters face outside a Caboolture court in Queensland.

And last year, a man threw an esky full of water over the reporter as she tried to interview him.
