Gilbert Caetano, 51, was unconscious when police arrived.

A 31-year-old woman is in police custody charged with manslaughter following an alleged domestic violence-related incident in Sydney’s south on Sunday morning.

Gilbert Caetano, 51, was found unconscious about 1:10am at his home on General Homes Drive, Brighton-Le-Sands.

Police and paramedics treated Mr Caetano but he died at the scene.

Police this afternoon charged a 31-year-old with manslaughter and “aggravated enter dwelling with intent” – what police describe as “knowing people there”.

She was taken to Kogarah Police Station and will appear at the Sutherland Local Court tomorrow.

A neighbour told the ABC he heard screaming and a loud bang at the time.

This morning the victim’s daughter Jessica paid tribute to her father.

“The best way to describe him was as a kid at heart,” she said.

“He was a loving and caring person, I don’t think he deserved this.”

A 31-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Kogarah Police Station.

The ABC understands the woman was in a relationship with Mr Caetano.

Officers from St George Police Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

They were searching for finger prints and donned breathing apparatus at the house this morning.
