A man will face court charged with the murder of a Sydney teenager who was shot execution-style while he was sleeping.

Brayden Dillon, 15, was shot in the head as he slept in his family’s Glenfield home after a gunman smashed his way in through the front door, early on Good Friday.

Detectives swooped on a home in Seven Hills late on Monday, less than 24 hours after police appealed for public help to identify a car seen driving away from Brayden’s home in southwest Sydney minutes after the April 14 shooting.

It’s believed Brayden, who died in The Children’s Hospital in Westmead, may have been killed in retaliation for his brother’s alleged involvement in a brawl and fatal stabbing at Panania in June 2016.

Joshua Dillon, 19, faces a murder charge over the June incident. Two others have also been charged over the death.

Shortly before midnight on Monday, a 26-year-old man was arrested in Seven Hills and charged with murder.

He was refused bail and will appear in Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday.

Brayden’s family, many of whom were home at the time of the shooting, will mark what would have been his 16th birthday on Wednesday.
