Former Olympian remains behind bars

Disgraced former Olympic kayaker Nathan Baggaley will remain behind bars after being refused bail in a northern NSW court.

Facing several drugs charges at Lismore Local Court on Tuesday, Nathan Baggaley didn’t apply for bail.

Baggaley last year pleaded not guilty to six serious charges relating to the importing, manufacture and distribution of amphetamine on a commercial scale.

The 37-year-old was arrested in November after a police raid in Tweed Heads.

He will appear before Lismore Local Court via audio video link on April 8.

Baggaley won two silver medals at the Athens Olympics in 2004.

His brother Dru, 31, has been charged with two counts of importing a commercial scale of drugs and is due before Sydney’s Central Local Court on Wednesday.
