Australia is ranked third on terror group Islamic State’s hit list, a US Homeland Security report states.

Among western countries, Australia sits equal with the UK and behind France and the US as a target for IS terror attacks.

In addition, the IS’s success rate is at its highest ever after being linked to more than 100 attack plots on Western nations this year, with 875 people killed wounded.

More than 750 people were killed during 2014 and 2015.

The report also warned the terror group is now “crowd sourcing” global terrorism, as the number of casualties doubled since the first half of the year.

“ISIS has now been linked to 100-plus attack plots against Western countries, an unprecedented wave of terror.”

“Although law enforcement agencies have thwarted more plots overall than have been executed, this year has seen ISIS’s highest success rate to date.”

The Daily Telegraph has reported that a meeting was held about the global security environment in Canberra, between Prime Minister Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and former US defence secretary and CIA director Leon Panetta on Wednesday.
