A seven-year-old amputee in England has been filmed in the heart-warming moments when she returns to her friends at school with a new prosthetic leg.

Anu, who had her leg amputated soon after she was born, featured in a story by the BBC who filmed her as she returned to the school playground and showed off her flash new leg to her buddies.

“Is that your new pink leg?” one girl is heard on the video asking Anu, who is mobbed by her friends who are seeing her new leg for the first time at her school in Birmingham, in central England.

“Wow!” another child says to her, while a little girl gives her a hug,

The children then run and frolic around the playground, testing out Anu’s new leg.

The Telegraph newspaper noted that the government allocated money in the health budget thanks to a campaign by the family of Telegraph journalist Christopher Hope, whose two-year-old Pollyanna lost her leg below the knee when she was hit by a bus on a footpath in London in 2007.

Hope’s mother-in-law was killed in the same incident.
