Campbell resident Jack Toby Mitchell was arrested by detectives this morning and taken to the ACT Watch House, where he was charged with sexual intercourse without consent.

It is alleged he raped the 18-year-old woman while she was sleeping on Saturday.

He has appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court where the prosecution originally did not oppose bail.

However lawyers have since said bail will be opposed.

In a statement the Defence Force said it was assisting police and providing support to individuals concerned.

The alleged assault is the latest in a series of incidents at the Academy, including the ‘Skype sex scandal’.
